The CPS is the Government Department responsible for prosecuting criminal cases investigated by the police in England and Wales. As the principal prosecuting authority in England and Wales, the CPS sits at the heart of the Criminal Justice System, working in close partnership with the police, courts, the Judiciary and other partners to deliver justice.

Led by the Director of Public Prosecutions, the CPS is a large, complex, geographically dispersed organisation, with a clear sense of purpose, and a broad mandate of great national importance. This includes advising the police on cases for possible prosecution, reviewing cases submitted by the police, determining any charge in all but minor cases, preparing cases for court, and presenting cases at court.

As Non-Executive Board Member and Remuneration Committee (RemCom) Chair, you will lead on the delivery of RemCom responsibilities and advise the CPS Board on matters including workforce and succession planning, incentive structures and ensuring robust systems are in place to identify and develop senior leaders from diverse talent pools, helping the CPS to transform and improve the services it provides. To be successful, you will need a strong experience of public sector, performance, talent development and remuneration structures, ideally with a HR leadership background, and the ability to contribute positively and strategically to a complex organisation in a non-executive capacity.
