We are seeking an exceptional academic leader to take on the role of Professor and Head of the School of Health and Social Care within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science. The School has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality education and training for the health and social care workforce in Wales and beyond. It plays a key role in shaping the future of healthcare professionals across a diverse range of disciplines including Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedic Science, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Operating Department Practice, Osteopathy, and Public Health.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic, ambitious School at a time of significant growth and development. The Head of School will be responsible for shaping and implementing the School’s strategic direction, strengthening its national and international reputation, and driving excellence in education, research, and external engagement. The role will require a strong focus on expanding transnational education, online and distance learning, and fostering impactful research and innovation partnerships. You will ensure that the School remains at the forefront of healthcare education and contributes to the University’s broader mission to be a global leader in health and social care.
We are seeking a visionary and inclusive leader with significant experience of strategic leadership and academic excellence either within one of the disciplines already represented in the School or from the broader fields of allied health and health sciences. With excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, you will have a clear commitment to delivering outstanding student experience, proven ability to inspire and motivate teams, and build and nurture productive relationships across the institution and with our partners. A deep understanding of the NHS, social care, and the evolving landscape of health professions education is essential, along with experience in working with the relevant professional, statutory, and regulatory bodies.
