ABOUT US
RDA transforms lives through the unique bond between people and horses. Through activities including riding, carriage driving and equine-assisted programmes such as Tea with a Pony and Quiet Corners, we support disabled children and adults to improve their physical health, emotional wellbeing, confidence, and independence.
RDA UK supports a federation of around 380 RDA groups and more than 50 approved riding centres across the country. Our work is made possible through the support of over 13,700 volunteers, 1,700 qualified coaches and 2,800 equines – all helping to create life changing opportunities for disabled people of all ages and abilities.
RDA is a diverse and inclusive organisation, welcoming people with physical and learning disabilities, sensory impairments, neurodiversity, long-term health conditions, and mental health challenges. We work with participants of all ages and abilities and are committed to widening access to meaningful equine experiences across the UK.
Demand for RDA’s activities continues to rise, especially as awareness grows around the benefits of equine assisted programmes for physical health, mental wellbeing, confidence, and social connection. At the same time, charities and the wider equestrian sector are navigating financial pressures, changing volunteer patterns, and increasing operational demands.
