SIMON PICKERELL
What do I do?
I am the Associate Director for interim management in the not-for-profit sector, with a primary focus on C-suite appointments for roles such as CEO, CFO, and HR Directors. My area of expertise includes not-for-profit organisations, housing associations, and Arm’s Length Bodies (ALBs).
Where I come from?
I have been working in recruitment since 2005, initially focusing on recruiting teachers and support staff for special educational needs (SEN) schools. I later ventured into setting up my own business, which operated for several years and had various areas of focus, including healthcare, industrial recruitment, sports coaching, and freight forwarding and logistics. Unfortunately, like many others, my business was impacted by COVID-19 and the economic downturn in 2020.
I was fortunate to be offered the opportunity to work in the not-for-profit sector, focusing on interim C-suite executive search. It has been a pleasure to collaborate with exceptional individuals and organisations, supporting their development and growth. Charities often step in where government efforts fall short, and it's safe to say they have been stretched in recent years. I have worked in this sector since 2020 and have made some significant appointments, including the CEO positions at PohWer, UK Youth, and United Response, among others.
Who I am?
I’ll try to keep this short and sweet, but as a Geordie, I find that quite difficult! I am a proud dad of two beautiful girls (8 and 15) and have been living in the Midlands since 2010. I enjoy spending my spare time visiting castles and historical venues with my girls.
I’m also a keen sportsman and play golf and pool. Additionally, I took up ballroom and Latin dancing when my youngest daughter started doing it. That’s why I often have a tan - if anyone asks! I have been on the Chase and have had a lead role in the Full Monty musical, both stories all for another time.
