INTERIM OPPORTUNITY - Residential Placements for Children Project – Inside IR35
The Placements for Children project is a high priority project within the Council’s Children, Schools and Families Recovery and Modernisation (Transformation) programme.
The council is committed to developing in- borough residential provision to ensure a greater choice for young people and greater in-borough sufficiency and to ensure that children and young people are engaged and can be actively involved in the development of options as co-producers.
They are looking for an experienced project manager/ consultant with a strong understanding of current pressures within the sector (particularly residential care for younger children) and experience in leading a similar project with children’s services, to lead the modelling of options. Options to be modelled include:
• in- borough residential accommodation for children in care
• semi-Independent accommodation for 16 & 17- year olds and care experienced young people
• accommodation for care leavers aged 18+ who require additional support to live independently.
Options developed will meet current and future sufficiency requirements as set out in the sufficiency strategy and have flexibility to scale up or down as demand requires.
Dependent on outcome of the cost benefit analysis, options may also provide revenue generation opportunities through supply to other boroughs and reduce infrastructure spend through shared costs for example, in partnership with another Local Authority.
