The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is the independent statutory body tasked with the regulation and administration of MPs’ business costs and expenses, the payment of the salaries of MPs and their staff, and setting MPs’ pay and pensions.

The Speaker’s Committee has a statutory duty to examine IPSA’s annual budget and to endorse the Speaker’s selection of candidates for appointment as IPSA’s Chair and Board Members before those names may be put to the House. Lay Members play a critical role in bringing the public’s perspective to the table when SCIPSA considers the resources needed for IPSA to carry out its role.

This role will give you a fascinating insight into the Parliamentary environment and the chance to apply your expertise to a remit that generates much public interest and debate.

As well as your professional experience and record of operating at a senior level in a complex organisation, you will bring strong analytical and communication skills, sound judgement and the proven ability to build effective relationships. Experience of financial and business planning and/or delivering technology-based business change will be especially valued in order to complement the skills and expertise offered by the other lay members on the Committee.
