I am looking for an interim Assistant Director of Commissioning to work with my Local Authority client to provide the strategic focus, working closely with the Head of Adult Social Care Commissioning, to deliver on the following specific areas:
Take a leading strategic commissioning role in managing the care home response post Covid-19, working with health colleagues and the wider market to manage this evolving programme as they implement the Care Home support plan and prepare for mobilisation of the Local Outbreak Management Plan.
To provide a strategic overview of the programmes in the current market within Care Provision. This will require interaction with regulated providers and the wider Voluntary and Community Sector resulting in a piece of engagement work to start the conversation about changing to a strengths based model of community and home care as they start to understand a new normal looking forward.
Working with the Head of Adult Social Care Commissioning, Director of Public Health, Assistant Director in the Families Children and Learning Directorate and NHS colleagues to review the existing commissioning arrangements and prepare options to support efficiency in future working arrangements.
To take a strategic overview of the links in with the commissioning cycle and the wider role of commissioning as a function. To develop insight about how commissioning is supported in terms of procurement, contract monitoring and performance and to report back where efficiencies and improvement could be found as a result of co-working or adoption of best practice.
My client needs someone who has a good understanding of NHS systems and operations, is an experienced political operator and has experience
of working in organisations with a strong trade union presence.
