Abertay University is a modern, pioneering, and ambitious university recognised for its achievements in teaching, learning and research that directly support the industries of today and the future. We are The Times/Sunday Times University of the Year for Teaching Quality 2021 recognised for the excellence of our teaching and for being Scotland’s most socially inclusive university.
Located in the heart of the vibrant city of Dundee, Scotland, we have around 5000 students and income of about £34 million per year. We have a strong and evolutionary tradition of preparing students for the jobs of the modern world. We offer a wide range of courses, all with links to industry, and are the institution around which Dundee’s booming tech, video games and cyber security sectors are flourishing.
Good governance is crucial to the success of a university and we now wish to appoint two outstanding individuals as Independent Members of Court, our governing body. With a strong sense of personal commitment to higher education, you will support Abertay University in achieving its mission, continuing to grow its contribution to society and ensuring that it is governed and managed effectively.
Members of Court bring professional skills and experience from a wide range of backgrounds, including private, public and not-for-profit sectors. You will be an effective and persuasive communicator with strong analytical skills and sound judgement, and an ability to make a significant strategic contribution to board discussions. While we hope you will bring a good level of experience of operating at non-executive board level, we are also able to consider those for whom this would be their first board position. Because we wish to maintain a balance of expertise across the Court, significant experience in professional finance or higher and/or further education would be desirable.
We are committed to equality and diversity and are particularly keen to receive applications from those currently under-represented on Court - women; people who are disabled; and people from ethnic minorities.
If you would like the opportunity to make a real difference to Abertay University and our community, you can obtain further information below under Supporting Documentation.
