Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KGH) and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust (NGH), have recently announced clear plans to develop greater collaboration in the further delivery of high quality, patient focussed clinical services supported by integrated / pooled corporate resources that enable better outcomes for local people. This will be achieved by forming a ‘Group’ operating model.
The county’s population, already diverse and widespread population at c700,000 people, is one of the most rapidly growing in England. Collectively, the two hospital Trusts have 1,440 beds, revenue budget of over £500m and approximately 9,000 staff. Moving to a group model but retaining the existing boards, will enable KGH and NGH to integrate their clinical services whilst developing innovate approaches to streamlining pathways, with a clear focus on doing the right thing for patients every time. Working together, they will also design more effective ways in which corporate support services are provided, harmonising processes across the two organisations.
Work has already begun on developing the new model; a joint Chair and interim Chief People Officer have been appointed and with backing of both Boards, who are ambitious to capitalise on the benefits of working together more strategically and collaboratively, a new Group Chief Executive is sought. With an agreed mandate, you will lead the combined organisation through this exciting transformative journey. The Group has huge ambitions and with major capital investment approved by the Secretary of State they can begin reshaping their physical infrastructure, which will rival many of the most modern acute care facilities at a scale that can attract the best available talent in the market.
Ideally, the new Group Chief Executive will be an established serving CEO working, or having worked recently, in the NHS. You will understand how hospitals operate, but more importantly, how different facets of the system interrelate so that innovation, improvement and integration occur naturally. You will be recognised by your peers for your innately collaborative leadership style and natural ability to build trust. These important qualities will be combined with innovative strategic vision and courage to act decisively, so that you can deliver effectively for the common good.
