SCHOLAR is a jewel in the crown for Heriot-Watt University, and the gateway for most Scottish students to access online, high quality science, maths, business, and languages courses. For over twenty-one years, SCHOLAR has pioneered in the provision of online learning resources to support secondary education across Scotland, offering around 40 courses for National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher to nearly 170,000 registered users annually. SCHOLAR draws on the knowledge and experience of teachers working in Scotland, to share their wealth of experience as educators to improve outcomes for young people on-line.
The critical position of Director of SCHOLAR comes at an exciting time as we strive to make a real difference through delivery of our new strategy, Strategy 2025. You will ensure the continued success of SCHOLAR and lead the development of SCHOLAR into new markets drawing on our unique expertise and modern learning technologies to identify and pursue new opportunities and promote the use of technology to drive innovation in learning and teaching. You will also work with other parts of the University to identify and develop further opportunities within a values-led institution that is truly like no other, with five campuses located around the world that excel in teaching, research, and wider societal impact.
We are looking for candidates with exceptional commercial, customer-focused mindset with a strong track record of delivering high quality outcomes for a range of stakeholders. You will have significant experience and understanding of commercialisation, online programme development and delivery and innovation in learning technology. You will have a proven track record of developing and managing the delivery of strategic plans through effective team-working. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will be an effective networker and relationship builder with demonstrable ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders.
