About the Role
You will be required to deliver the implementation of a new online learning strategy for Queen Mary University of London called Queen Mary Online. Queen Mary Online is one of six initial transformation programmes central to Queen Mary’s 2030 strategy.
The Director will be required to establish and lead Queen Mary Online and drive the uptake of online postgraduate masters programmes to deliver 10,000 full time equivalent students p/a by 2030. The Director will identify new business opportunities and continuously enhance the Queen Mary Online offer to make it a market-leading and profitable online education offer, underpinned by an efficient and effective operating model.
You will be educated to High degree level and/or have equivalent relevant experience. Significant experience of strategy development and implementation of transformation projects and experience of working with Platform Providers in higher education (e.g. FutureLearn, edX, Coursera or similar) is essential.
You will also have an exceptional commercial, customer-focused mindset with a strong track record of delivering high quality outcomes for a range of stakeholders. Proactive and market focused, you will be used to identifying and successfully capitalizing on business opportunities rapidly in a rapidly changing sector.
About the Project
The development of Queen Mary Online will realise significant pedagogical, financial, reputational and efficiency gains for the University through the introduction of a new, global online learning offer targeted primarily at overseas postgraduate students.
Queen Mary Online will be a high-profile component of Queen Mary’s strategy, and must align with our values, not least our commitment to diversity and inclusion. It is imperative that the venture get off to a rapid start with the launch of four online Master’s programmes targeting the global market in 2020.
The Director will lead a team of approximately six people including an Academic Director and will have oversight and management of strategic suppliers.

The post is predominantly based in London, however travel to other locations and international travel may be required. It is full-time appointment to start as soon as possible.
