Teesside University is a dynamic, progressive and innovative institution, founded on more than 85 years of teaching and learning and serving a population of over 18,000 students. The University aims to transform lives and economies by delivering outstanding teaching, research and business engagement. Teesside 2020, the University’s corporate strategy, sets out a new vision for the University that raises the aspiration and ambition of Teesside University to be an international university at the heart of the Tees Valley with a reputation for academic excellence.

Recognising the continually changing technology landscape, we have recently embarked on a major programme of transformational change to further enhance and develop our information technology and digital capability. Working in partnership with Microsoft, we are driving forward our Future Facing Learning initiative, embracing cutting-edge digital technology to completely change the way that students learn, and to provide them with the knowledge, skills and tools to thrive and succeed in a complex and ever-changing world. We are also undergoing a learning and teaching transformation with one of the biggest and most ambitious digital roll-outs the higher education sector has seen.

We are now seeking an outstanding individual for the role of the Director of Information Technology and Digital Services, an exciting, mission-critical, strategic leadership role. Reporting to Chief Operating Officer and joining a motivated and high achieving leadership team, you will work across the University, with our stakeholders and partners, to develop and deliver our future technology vision. You will drive forward genuine transformational change that will optimise investment and create a service that both supports and enables and meets the ever-evolving expectations of our students and staff.

We are looking for an exceptional and visionary technology leader with an outstanding record of achievement in a complex, fast moving, customer focused environment. You will be an empowering manager of teams, able to share a vision and take people with you during a period of significant change. You will have a deep understanding of modern digital technology and experience of driving technology innovations. You will bring a strong strategic perspective, proven ability to drive operational improvements at pace, strong commercial insight and an absolute focus on delivery. You will be adaptable and resilient, and passionate about sharing in and influencing our University’s future success. Higher education experience is not essential, but empathy and appreciation of the challenges and drivers would be useful.
