Queen Mary University of London is a leading UK Russell Group University with over 28,000 students representing more than 160 nationalities. We are a values-led institution with a strong brand identity centered on inclusion. We are very proud to attract students from backgrounds typically under-represented at universities like ours and determined to provide them with the world-class education they deserve. We have five London campuses, and also a presence in China, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Malta, Paris and the US.

Throughout our history, we have fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. We continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it is simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers. We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.

Our QMUL 2030 strategy envisages major development of online learning to extend our student experience around the world. Our Digital Learning Strategy in the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD) will engage a new and diverse Queen Mary student population by enabling access to innovative education programmes ranging from credit-bearing modules to alternative credentials, delivered through fully online or blended modalities.

Reporting to the Vice Principal (Health), you will oversee the Faculty’s growth in digital education and be responsible for the design and shape of its online portfolio, ensuring that it is sustainable and agile. You will be responsible for the academic leadership of fully online education and professional learning and ensuring the successful delivery of a content strategy and portfolio of fully online degrees, micro-credentials, and short courses. As a senior member of the Faculty Executive, you will sit on Faculty Executive Boards and chair the Faculty’s Digital Education Committee.

This is a pivotal role which will play a vital part in delivering our ambitions to grow. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join us as Dean/Director for Digital Education. You will bring proven programme management experience at a senior level, along with experience in the Higher Education sector and within the Digital Learning sector. Key to your success will be your ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with senior academics in the Faculties and Schools, senior Professional Services colleagues, external partners and colleagues across the Faculty. Your strong leadership and guidance will drive innovation and entrepreneurialism in the development and delivery of online learning.

We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
