Location: Dounreay, Scotland

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is responsible for the vital work of decommissioning 17 complex nuclear sites across the United Kingdom, changing the UK’s nuclear legacy into a positive environmental one.

Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd (DSRL) is responsible for the safe and secure clean-up and demolition of the Dounreay site in northern Scotland. For more than 50 years it was known as the centre of the UK’s fast reactor research and development and is now a centre of excellence for nuclear decommissioning. It is widely recognised as Europe’s most complex nuclear closure programme, and the experimental nature of many of its redundant facilities means the clean-up and demolition requires innovation and the use of cutting-edge technology. We are at the heart of the local community as an employer and partner.

Our mission is to decommission Dounreay in a safe and timely manner and leave a positive legacy for future local generations. We are working closely with a range of stakeholders to support the creation of new employment opportunities in the area to mitigate the economic impacts of the decommissioning.

As part of the strategic plan to build a strong and cohesive NDA group – “One NDA”, DSRL ownership will transfer to the NDA from the Cavendish Dounreay Partnership, a consortium of Cavendish Nuclear, Jacobs and Amentum, in March 2021.

We are now looking to recruit a Commercial Director to lead and be accountable for all commercial activities at DSRL.The successful candidate will be an individual with a successful track record as a senior procurement professional. Additionally, candidates will need to demonstrate a successful senior leadership track record, experience of continuous improvement, team management and development, and outstanding interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills. Integral to all is the desire to play a positive and active part in a vibrant local community.
