UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is less than a year old. We have been established to work in partnership with universities, research organisations, businesses, charities, and government to create the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish. Operating across the UK with a combined budget of more than £6 billion, UKRI brings together the seven Research Councils, Innovate UK and Research England. We aim to maximise the contribution of each of our component parts, working individually and collectively. We work with our many partners to benefit everyone through developing knowledge, talent and ideas.

UKRI is an independent organisation with a strong voice for research and innovation, both to government and internationally, principally funded through the Science Budget by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). We are supported and challenged by an independent chair and board.

Our mission is to be a trusted partner, to ensure research and innovation grows and flourishes. We will support and help connect the best researchers and innovators with customers, users and the public; investing taxpayers’ money wisely to maximises impact for citizens, in the UK and across the world.

To help achieve our mission we are now seeking to appoint a new Chief People Officer. You will play a pivotal role as the most senior HR professional in UKRI. As well as the direct management of the HR function you will lead the development of our overall people strategy, supporting the nine ‘Councils’ and helping drive the people agenda forwards. We are also embarked on an ambitious transformation programme and it is expected that the new CPO will play an important role in embedding the fruits of this across the organisation.

This is a challenging yet extremely rewarding opportunity for a senior leader who is credible at Board level. We seek a modern, progressive HR professional. You will bring a strong track record of leading an HR function for an organisation of scale and complexity, and a proven ability to contribute to the vision, strategy and business performance of an organisation. You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a sophisticated approach to senior stakeholder management and influencing.

If you are motivated to support UKRI’s ambition to benefit the UK economy and society by rethinking UK research and innovation funding provision, then please see the full role description and application pack at www.veredus.co.uk quoting reference 931170.

All submissions will receive an automated response. If you do not receive confirmation of receipt when submitting your application, please contact us on 0207 932 4236.
