Location: London, York or Liverpool – 3 days a week in London

The Crown Prosecution Service sits at the heart of the criminal justice system in England and Wales, working to protect the public and create a safe society, ensuring the right person is prosecuted for the right offence and offenders brought to justice wherever possible.

We have been through much change over recent years, overcoming the challenges of resource constraint as well as the changing nature of crime, and have emerged with increased levels of staff engagement.

We are now looking to appoint an outstanding Chief People Officer (CPO) to lead and develop our team of expert Human Resources professionals. As a key member of the CPS Board, this CPO will have ownership of formulating the people strategy for a diverse organisation of over 6,000 staff spread across locations throughout the country. They will instigate organisational and cultural change designed to further promote diversity, inclusivity and belonging. Alongside this, the CPO will work with senior stakeholders across multiple government departments as well as the legal profession as a whole.

The ideal individual will be a senior successful Human Resources professional and bring with them a proven track record of HR leadership within a large and complex organisation. They will also have experience of delivering workforce planning strategy and, critically, a track record of implementing change programmes to improve capability across the Human Resource function.

Alongside this, you will have the ability to influence very senior stakeholders and bring experience of engaging and inspiring a diverse and geographically dispersed team within a complex organisation. Experience of successfully working within a professional services environment is highly desirable.
