Our Assessment and Development team provides high-quality assessment and development solutions for organisations in the public, not-for-profit and private sectors that are tailored to their individual needs and circumstances.
Organisations come to us for a variety of reasons:

- To assess the leadership potential within organisations;
- To identify and develop future leaders as part of their overall talent management strategy.
At Veredus we approach each assignment on an individual basis. Whether we are supporting one of the many senior leadership roles undertaken by our practices or a major organisational change programme, each assignment receives the same level of quality, commitment and added value.
For example, in supporting the appointment of several Chief Executives over the last 12 months, our team worked in parallel with, but independently of, our search consultants to provide a deeper understanding of motivation, emotional intelligence quotient and communication skills of shortlisted candidates. This work utilised a number of assessment tools and required the development of specific role play and media assessment processes to complement the in-depth one-to-one sessions with our Chartered Psychologists. This provided clients with a deeper understanding of candidates’ behavioural patterns and leadership qualities.
Much of our work evolves from long-term relationships we have developed with clients in delivering assessment and development support as part of their long-term talent management programmes. For example, we have supported the Scottish Government over a number of years in designing the assessment process for promotion boards which underpins the organisation’s succession planning process. This competency-based assessment effectively determines whether a post can be filled internally or needs to be market tested.
The services we provide are flexible and bespoke. We have many clients who use our business psychology expertise to supplement their own internal Human Resources and Training & Development teams. We have proved that we can work effectively in partnership and provide a tailored and flexible service.
Many of our clients appoint Veredus to support major transformational change programmes. For example, Arts Council England asked Veredus to design and implement an assessment process to help them reorganise their management structures. This involved creating an end-to-end process including the design of the management competency framework for the organisation, creating the assessment process, assessing candidates for individual positions, and offering counselling and coaching for unsuccessful candidates applying for roles in the new structure.
Similarly, we have been commissioned to develop an analysis of leadership capability at the National Audit Office to determine how successful their senior leadership appointments have been, based on performance data and assessment of that performance against their leadership competency framework. More broadly in Central Government, Veredus has been responsible for developing a bespoke assessment process that enables candidates for Senior Civil Servant positions internally and externally to be assessed against the Professional Skills for Government framework.
On an individual level, Veredus also provides tailored leadership coaching programmes, particularly for talented individuals who have moved or aspire to move between sectors. Facilitation of talent from private to public sector is a Veredus specialism, and we have a wealth of experience in helping executives make this transition.

We take candidate feedback very seriously. Each candidate profile is carefully validated and discussed with candidates before they are finalised. Indeed, many candidates, whether successful or unsuccessful, use these profiles for development purposes and continue to have a relationship with us well beyond the initial contact.
