The Tyne and Wear Autistic Society is a 300-strong charity that provides respite care, education and homes for children and young adults with autism.
Although the organisation has existed for 25 years and enjoys a turnover of £8m a year, it had never had a Chief Executive before, having previously been run by trustees and a Chair.
