Case study: UK Border Agency

The Challenge

Rashid is a dynamic and highly professional procurement Interim manager with extensive experience in strategic procurement, managing and delivering procurement projects, contract management, business change management and programme delivery. Rashid’s brief in this assignment for UK Border Agency was to manage a team of thirty procurement professionals whilst assisting with the migration of back office functions to the shared service centre. Rashid also provided robust guidance to the board in order to undertake organisational realignment to make the organisation self sustainable and remove the reliance on interim staff.

Our Solution

During the six month assignment Rashid demonstrated that procurement is not a barrier to purchasing and can be used to drive agenda. He introduced a number of key procurement initiatives to the department and was able to quickly understand the internal and external stakeholder’s requirements. Rashid’s initiatives included creating a mechanism to develop an accurate and live pipeline of procurement activities that allowed the team to proactively manage customer requirements. He also worked with UKBA core colleagues and external suppliers to refine and implement supplier relationship management. Rashid also introduced a reporting mechanism as there was not one previously in place and offered advice to the team on procurement issues such as EU procurement legislation and contract and issue resolution. These key changes allowed the procurement team that had previously managed activities on a reactive basis to change to a more pro active approach.

The Result

I Rate Veredus very highly and they work in partnership with the candidate whilst taking that extra time to personalise the relationship. The consultants have an excellent understanding of the market and always have a very high level of professionalism.
