The Challenge
We first worked with this major UK institution when we supported the recruitment of a specialist Director within the new Innovations Directorate.
Our strong cultural sector knowledge and search capacity enabled us to provide an excellent shortlist, and the client made a great appointment.
Our aim is to provide added value for our clients, by building a deep understanding of the organisation and their business – and becoming trusted advisers.
Our Approach
As always, we went the ‘extra mile’, and were able to develop a positive, long-term business relationship.
We were invited back to recruit another four executive directors, then two more senior specialists – to lead for the organisation on Climate Change and Education, Science and Society.
This recruitment is in the context of a strategic change programme, and some of the roles were therefore new posts. We brought a strategic approach to these assignments – we have extensive networks in the sectors, and a rigorous, disciplined process.
There were a number of internal candidates, which required a sensitive approach to handling these applications alongside external candidates.
We were able to provide shortlists of strong candidates from a range of backgrounds – but with the right skills and personal qualities for these challenging roles.
Above all, we took the time to work with this client – to understand their senior management needs, and their approach to recruitment.
The Business Relationship
The organisation uses a competency-based interview process, which guarantees the quality of the senior staff they recruit.
Previously, this process had always been managed in-house – and we are the first external company to whom it has been outsourced.
It takes time and effort to establish trusted relationships with clients, but we see it as the most important business investment we can make.
And we were delighted to be retained to provide executive search services on an exclusive basis. We look forward to continue to add value in the future.
