The Challenge
Our client, one of the leading manufacturers of server-based gaming machines, is part of a group of companies active in several highly-competitive markets.
Our assignment was to support the recruitment of two key members of the executive team – a Chief Technology Officer and a Director of Marketing.
The CTO had to be a world class leader in a niche technology with the ability to act as an interface between the business and its technology – translating needs and driving strategy.
The Marketing Director had to get to grips with two very different sets of customers at the heart of the business.
One market is in equipment for use in licensed betting offices requiring excellent key account management skills, and the ability to develop long-term business relationships in an industry with a 3-5 year business cycle.
The other market is in products for the pubs and clubs - characterised by much shorter product life cycles, a larger number of smaller customers, and a more traditional marketing challenge.
Our Solution
Because our consultants have unrivalled experience in the gaming sector, we knew exactly where to look for candidates with the right skills and industry knowledge.
It was the detailed, rigorous Veredus process that made all the difference.
We involved Chief Executives responsible for each of the businesses, and worked with them to develop a candidate brief which communicated a clear vision for the role.
And our transparent selection process ensured that we stayed on track to find candidates who could meet the demanding mix of challenges.
The Result
We presented two excellent shortlists to the client, which provided a real choice for both posts.
The client selected candidates who brought the right blend of technical knowledge, attitude - and the ability to operate in two very different markets with very distinct CEOs at once!
